Ryan McGinley's Nude Photography Series Captures Chilling Naked Bodies

American photographer Ryan McGinley went to extreme heights and temperatures for his latest nude photography series. Titled 'Winter,' this collection of photographs displays the female anatomy juxtaposed with arctic conditions.

'Winter' was shot in upstate New York in sub-zero temperatures. Naturally, hosting a photoshoot of naked models in freezing temperatures is very complicated. To achieve the chilling images -- without having the models lose their limbs to frostbite -- McGinley and his crew created arctic-like props out of propane tanks, ice fishing tents and rock climbing gear.

As a result, these photographs showcase models conquering mounds of ice, posing in ice skates and stretching among icicles all with no facial indication that it is rather cold. This nude photography series is definitely McGinley's most chilling work yet.
