Reanimated Shoe Designs

The Nike Air Max Zero is Produced 29 Years After the Original Sketch

Released recently, the Nike Air Max Zero was originally designed 29 years ago. A 1987 sketch of the shoe by Tinker Hatfield that inspired the Nike Air Max 1 finally exists after Nike Design Director Graeme McMillan found the drawing in the Department of Nike Archives.

Never produced until now because it was deemed ahead of its time, the Nike Air Max Zero has been described as "a more contemporary version of the Air Max 1." Now that technology has caught up with the original vision for the footwear, which has visible air sole units, the design has been brought to life with new materials. This includes the Air Max 1 Ultra outsole and cored-out Phylon construction as well as bulk-reducing fuse uppers and monofilament yarn mesh.
