Nightmarish Children's Stories

'The Red Shoes' is a Hellish Play for Adults Only

Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale of 'The Red Shoes' has been re-vamped in a racy way as an adult stage production. The stage play has been reworked from the original story by playwright Emma Rice.

The original story is of a poor school girl entranced by a new pair of red shoes she has been given. When the girl wears the shoes to church, she is forced to dance until her feet fall off. As if the original story isn't strange enough, 'The Red Shoes' re-vamped version involves blood, sex and violence.
