Pioneer Shoe

Chen Feijun and Zhao Bin designed a shoe ,Pioneer, that converts the kinetic energy of walking into electrical energy, which powers a headlight at the front of the shoe. The red dot award: design concept 2007 winner is a smart fashion choice for any evening/ night activity.

Pioneer is based on the idea that the mechanical movement (and energy) of walking can be converted to electric power within the shoe. The electric power is stored in a battery in the sole of the shoe, and once charged, it can be successfully used to power a headlight for twelve hours (a night's worth).

The shoe is made of waterproof material to protect the battery and circuit. The small light is positioned in the rubber of the sole and consumes little power with a maximum scope of 1.5m of light. One button control is used to switch the light on and off.
