Abandoned Shelter Scenery

Nicolas Poillot Photography Focusses on Isolated Architecture

In the scenic Nicolas Poillot Photography series, the most striking element about the photos is the use of empty space, devoid of anything busy and loud.

As a result, there is a strong feeling of solitude that makes the focal point of each photograph seem to be standing alone, as if the whole world has abandoned it. Dilapidated structures and broken down shelters and caves are the center of attention, all embodying a dejected atmosphere that is enforced by the subdued coloring.

In one of the photos of the Nicolas Poillot Photography series, I recognize the Maiden of the Mist from Niagara Falls, but even this touristy ferry seems to be isolated in a misty haze.
