Renovated Light-Bathed Lofts

This New York Loft's Walls Were Bashed Down to Make It Better Lit

Photographer's Loft is an innovatively designed New York loft that makes use of a massively over-sized skylight to bring in copious amounts of light.

Located in the Chelsea area of New York and designed by the Yoshihara McKee architecture firm, this apartment was previously devoid of light due to the fact that it featured a number of walls on the inside. However, the apartment has now been renovated and re-imagined, with the designers getting rid of the tall internal walls and installing a zig-zag partition instead, which allows for more light to enter through the skylight and permeate the interior.

This New York loft speaks to the importance of intelligent architectural renovations in revitalizing dwellings, specifically in the urban context where space is at a premium.
