Eco-Conscious Sweater Selfies

WWF Encourages People to Snap a Selfie for National Sweater Day

In celebration of February 6th as National Sweater Day, the WWF is encouraging people to turn down the thermostats by at least two degrees, put on a sweater and take a selfie.

For people, being more conscious about energy usage means lower energy bills and more money saved. As well, climate change poses a huge threat to animals like elephants, giant pandas, whales and polar bears, but energy conservation is one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

On the sweaterday.ca website, WWF shows a digital sweater that is in the process of being knit, with each stitch represented by someone who snaps a pic with the hashtag "SweaterDay." So far, there are already over 8,500 people who have contributed to this project and the effort to lower their energy consumption in the winter.
