The National Law Enforcement museum in Washington is set to receive its own commemorative coins in the future, with US Representative David Reichert introducing a bill to Congress on December 27th that authorizes the United States Mint to produce them.
The National Law Enforcement Museum Commemorative Coin Act is said to provide for a "maximum of 50,000 $5 gold coins, 400,000 silver $1 coins, and 750,000 clad half dollars to be struck in 2021."
Rather than hosting a design contest, the museum will source the looks of the coins "from artists working with the Mint," which will then be reviewed by "the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the Officers Memorial Fund."
