Imposing Billboard Photos

These Natan Dvir Photographs Capture the Impact of Advertising in NYC

These striking Natan Dvir photographs capture the gargantuan billboards of NYC and the impact advertising has on the city. The giant billboards in these photographs are used to advertise upcoming store openings and often loom over entire cityscapes.

As these images portray however, the advertisements have little or no effect on city dwellers who seem to be getting on with their business or day's errands regardless. The huge advertisements dwarf real people, who look like plastic figurines compared to the giant, glamorous models.

Natan Dvir says this collection entitled 'Coming Soon' is "an exploration of our visual relationship with the branded city centers and the commercial environment we live in." The images were shot by the Israeli photographer over the last five years and were all shot in New York City.
