This wooden pavilion by NAS Architecture hangs over the rampart fortifications of the historic French castle Aigues Mortes.
The 'Haven' installation consists of 10 different plywood sheets that were each uniquely cut and shaped by NAS Architecture. Commissioned by the National Monuments Center of France, the sheets were placed over the castle wall in a linear order to create a one-of-a-kind tunnel. Meant to resemble a sort of vortex, 'Haven' was designed to create a brand new way to walk along the historic walkway located around the building. A unique contrast also exists between the wooden material used in the instillation and the stone found along the rampart walls.
The lined up sheets create an intriguing visual effect both along their exterior and in the interior walkway.
