Noctua, the computer cooling solutions company, launched the 'NA-TPG1' Thermal Paste Guard for AMD's next-generation AM5 socket. This thermal paste applicator was released in advance of AMD's Ryzen 7000-series central processing units, which have a unique shape when compared to previous CPUs. The AM5 socket has a build block-style shape with eight arms that extend beyond the regular square-shaped processor.
While previous CPUs have all been square or rectangular shaped, making thermal paste application easy, the AM5 socket shape makes 100% thermal paste coverage more risky, with the potential to spill thermal paste onto the surrounding motherboard. However, with Noctua's NA-TPG1 Thermal Paste Guard, application is made easy, as the guard protects the area surrounding the CPU, allowing for quick and clean application.
