It is not often that a site still under construction gets special treatment such as the Musee des Confluences. Of course, anything is possible when it comes time for the annual Festival of Lights in Lyon, France, which takes place for four nights every December. Of course, what better way to get people really interested in the soon-to-open museum.
The Musee des Confluences light show was created by light artist Hervé Audibert. Conceived as a 'crystal cloud of knowledge,' by Vienna-based architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au, the spaceship-like building is predominantly made out of transparent glass, which is ideal for this installation. Titled Ylem: A Luminous Performance, it transforms the Musee des Confluences an artistic visual of the primordial substance that existed in the universe just after the Big Bang.
