WoodGreen Community Services, one of the largest social services agency in Canada's largest city Toronto, is using a special multisensory room that uses a combination of stimuli to give seniors a pleasing experience.

The multisensory room uses a wide variety of elements including lights, aromatherapy and sounds to either soothe clients or simulate some kind of experience. For example, a visit to the sea can be recreated using blue lights and the sounds of crashing waves and birds singing on the beach. Providing these kinds of stimuli helps keep seniors physically ant mentally active and exercises their faculties, while keeping them entertained and happy.

Woodgreen Community Services' multisensory room is monitored by health professionals. The room has proven to be so popular that it now operates six days a week on extended hours.
