Bat-Saving Bridges

This Multipurpose Bridge Doubles as a Habitat for Different Bat Species

This unique multipurpose bridge not only allows passersby across the water, it also doubles as a bat sanctuary. The project is along a flight route of different species of bats and the bridge is designed to help provide shelter and increase the population of the animal.

The bridge is made mostly from concrete, a material that provides a pleasant and stable climate for the bats. On the side of the bridge, openings are placed to allow bats to enter the structure. The slots are slightly hidden and are worked in to the grooves designed in the concrete arch. The purpose of the bridge is to strengthen the existing green space in the area, and allow recreational and natural values to complement each other.
