Pointlessly Scandalous Awareness Ads

MTV Gets Unnecessarily Explicit for AIDS (NSFW)

MTV Brazil has a peculiar new AIDS awareness campaign that is pretty much NSFW. The ads show retro images of people having sex. The man’s groin is censored with the copy, "Except for AIDS, nothing has changed."

I personally think the ads are pointlessly scandalous. I see no point being made by showing that people used to get freaky with threesomes and kinky sex well before AIDS was discovered. It only makes me envy them that they did not need to worry about contracting a deadly disease from those sexual encounters. But it does not provide any motivation for me to use protection.

The ad campaign was created by Loducca, São Paulo with creative director Guga Ketzer, art directors Cassio Moron, Andre Nassar, and copywriter Guga Ketzer.
