This Archaeus-Built Structure Sits In the Southern Carpathian Mountains

The Caltun Shelter is a highly innovative off grid mountain shelter, conceived and constructed by noted Romanian architecture firm Archaeus, that is located on the gorgeously rugged Southern Carpathians mountain range in Romania. Situated at a hefty altitude of around 2.1 km, this structure is designed to offer refuge to mountain rescue teams as well as anyone who finds themselves hanging out at high altitude.

The inside of this mountain shelter features no extensive furniture or toilet facility, but certainly offers a desirable alternative to just taking refuge in the mountainside. The floorspace of 35 square meters includes enough space for 21 people.

This mountain shelter features a photovoltaic erray and charging facilities, making it a godsend for tired hikers, explorers and mountain rescue squads.
