Arc'teryx Introduces Rhoam as Its First Mountain Bike Kit

Canadian brand Arc'teryx launched 'Rhoam,' its first mountain bike kit, a limited-edition three-piece capsule developed by riders within the brand's North Vancouver design team over years of trail testing on the North Shore.

The Arc'teryx Rhoam collection includes a jacket, pants, shorts, and more, each available in men's and women's designs. The pieces are built with hybrid materials, integrated layering and riding-specific features such as kneepads and a StormHood compatible with bike helmets. Both men's and women's versions are available globally at arcteryx.com and select retailers.

As performance apparel brands expand into new categories, Arc'teryx shows how technical expertise from adjacent sports can translate into new disciplines when the design process is led by athletes with direct experience.

Trend Themes

  1. Technical-hybrid Apparel — Garments that combine multiple fabric technologies and integrated features create opportunities for multifunctional pieces that replace several single-use items in an athlete's kit.
  2. Athlete-led Design — Design processes driven by in-house or rider teams produce highly specific product iterations that can redefine category standards through lived-experience insights.
  3. Limited-edition Capsules — Small-batch, drop-style releases foster scarcity-driven demand and enable rapid testing of niche concepts before wider commercialization.

Industry Implications

  1. Outdoor-apparel — High-performance outerwear brands expanding into adjacent sport categories prompt new product lines that blur the lines between technical mountaineering and cycling apparel.
  2. Cycling-retail — Specialty bike shops and direct-to-consumer channels face shifts as performance apparel becomes a central differentiator in customer acquisition and brand partnerships.
  3. Textile-technology — Innovations in hybrid fabrics and integrated protective elements create potential for materials firms to supply modular, sport-specific laminates and smart textiles.
