19th Century Footwear Revivals

Matching Mother-Daughter Spats from Maide Munchen

Yes, you are not seeing things, these are spats. Not that we haven’t trended spats before, but these are actually wearable, and some are indeed splendid. The work of a German designer, Maide Munchen’s creations have quite a legion of fans, not least among them, even Karl Lagerfeld who has featured her works in recent a German Vogue edition. Maide’s slogan is "Good Mood Fashion," which is just what it is.

These accessories, seen in images from Trend de la Creme, were last popular in the late 19th century, and the modern versions are recreated using materials from 1900 to 1930. Although I didn’t think this was a trend that would continue, now that Mum and toddler can wear matching spats, they might just be onto something!
