Starbucks Japan is Offering a Mooncake Box for the Mid-Autumn Festival

For the arrival of the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, Starbucks is releasing a limited-edition mooncake box in order to mark the special occasion.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is also known as the Mooncake Festival across Asia, since it is marked by the arrival of a full moon at a particular time of year and is celebrated by eating mooncakes. These mooncakes traditionally take the form of small cylindrical pastries with intricate designs stamped on their tops and Starbucks plays off of this idea by replacing classic patterns with its own mermaid logo. To further offset this design, the elegant box the treats are presented in includes an artful depiction of a mermaid jumping out of the water and raising a cup of coffee to the moon.

As far as flavors go, the branded mooncakes come in brown rice, green tea and cheese cranberry flavors.
