Money Savvy Pig Has Four Tummies to Teach Money Management

Chicago Public Schools will be teaching 'Money Savvy' in the 2011 school year as part of an eight-week course on financial literacy. Teacher librarians will use the 'Money Savvy Pig' in the curriculum.

Noting that children need to know more about money than simply making change, founder and CEO of Money Savvy Generation, Susan Beacham, pitched the use of the Money Savvy Pig piggy bank and the lessons it teaches to Chicago's teacher-librarians. She didn't anticipate that 97,000 K-8 students would take part.
