Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer unveiled the TAG Heuer Monaco V4 Tourbillon watch, claimed to be the first ever watch to feature a belt-drive tourbillon.
A tourbillon is a mechanical system that regulates the speed at which a watch ticks. What's unique about the Monaco V4 Tourbillon watch is that its tourbillon system features a unique belt-drive that eliminates friction and results in a perfectly fluid rotation. The belts are no thicker than a human hair.
The Monaco V4 Tourbillon features a V-shaped main plate with four barrels mounted onto it at an angle intended to resemble the cylinders on a Formula One car's engine. The barrels are held in place and rotated on ball bearings.
The watch also boasts a black titanium and sapphire case and an automatic linear rewinding system. Once released, the watch is likely to be priced at around $169,600.
