Sustainable Science Museums

Moatasem Esmat Gives the Science Museum an Upgraded Look

The Science Museum located in Berlin is a flowing structure redesigned by Moatasem Esmat.

The inside of the space also retains this sense of flow, with an exhibition area located on the main floor. When visitors arrive, then natural follow the corridor around, taking in the pieces and not worrying about where they should turn next. According to DesignBoom, "the museum’s roof defines a strong silhouette, with long spanning structural elements that respond to the surrounding city fabric. Green roofs were placed on top of these concrete components to help it blend in further with its context."

The design is also meant to be extremely sustainable, with a low carbon emission on a daily basis. Visitors can thus enjoy the exhibitions knowing that the building is not harming the environment.
