The Mizuhiki Band is a Boring Office Supply Turned Pretty

The Mizuhiki Band fulfills its fundamental task easily, as an elastic band that stretches and contracts to hold papers and packages together. Yu Asao recognized that it would not take much more effort to greatly improve the appearance of such a dull desk drawer item, so it was given an attractive little accessory.

The Japanese designer closed off the flexible loop and extended the rubber band's material into a tiny bow. Reminiscent of what you would see in the hair of a young girl or on the tops of perfectly tied shoes, this butterfly knot instantly beautifies a rather humdrum stationery object. The Mizuhiki Band is both practical and pretty.
