Dhruv Lakra, an MBA graduate from Oxford University, witnessed the plight and lack of safety nets for India's hearing-impaired population and came up with a plan. Because courier services require very little vocal interaction on the part of employees, Lakra's new company Mirakle Courier was able to hire deaf and mute locals as messengers. Barring the management staff of four, the entire company is held together by its hearing-disabled workers.
Because they are so visually inclined, the deaf are incomparably skilled at reading maps, recognizing landmarks and pinpointing buildings -- they are the perfect couriers. As a result of their proficiency, Dhruv hopes to expand across India, giving hope to the disabled and building a sustainable business simultaneously.
