The BMW Group has developed the 'MINI Augmented Vision,' a pair of augmented reality glasses that makes solid parts of the wearer's automobile appear transparent, through cameras on the car that record and transfer video to the glasses.
The prototype, which was recently unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2015 motor show, is a great example of how augmented reality technology can make the process of driving safer. The MINI Augmented Vision helps eliminate blind spots, as well as assist drivers in everyday tasks such as parking.
The glasses also work outside of the vehicle, offering the wearer navigational information while on foot. The team explains, "At BMW Group we don't only work on cars and functionality inside the car, but on whole mobility services."
