The Mercedes SLK Aphelios is a fish-inspired sports car that looks surprisingly great. Automotive designers are famous for seeking inspiration from the animal kingdom, but the fish is not usually seen as being the ideal creature on which to fashion a sports car around.
Thankfully no one told that to Macedonian designer Apostol Tnokovski. Tnokovski's Mercedes SLK Aphelios was designed after the Ohrid trout, a fish found only in Macedonia's Ohrid Lake. The Ohrid trout's grace and speed underwater gave the SLK Aphelios its shape, and its silver scales gave the car its matte silver coloring. This concept also features a massive window that runs front to back to give passengers a better view of the outside world. Tnokovski's design succeeds in that it doesn't try to do too much (newfangled engine/body) but what it does do (look great) it does well.
