Google Photos Has a New Memories Feature That Shows Old Photos

Google Photos has added a new Memories feature which functions much like many social media stories. With the new Memories feature, users will be presented with different photos form a person's past. Google emphasized that the new feature takes photos from a persons private image gallery and only presents them to the user, and not others. Memories from Google Photos will appear at the top of a persons image gallery, where users can select a button to see the different old photos.

The system uses machine learning in order to select photos. The system is able to select the best photos out of a series of images that are similar. Users can also toggle the memories feature to not show time periods or people.
