But researchers from Carnegie Mellon University in New York are putting 3D printing technology to work for the creation of highly precise and detailed anatomical model kits for medical training.

The lifelike 3D-printed kits for medical students are based on the 3D scans of medical cadavers that were printed into 57 different pieces.

As of now, the $250,000 model kits is costly and time-consuming to produce, but kits of this kind could have huge implications for medical facilities that lack the resources or licensing to store and use cadavers.
