Chicken Salad Chick Has a New Maui Mama Melt for Summer

Chicken Salad Chick is taking your taste buds on a trip to Hawai'i this summer with the debut of its new Maui Mama Melt.

Available from June 1st through August 29th, the new Maui Mama Melt sandwich is a twist on the brand's signature Maui Mama offering. The original chicken salad featured pineapple, bacon, and diced jalapeños for a sweet and spicy flavor combination. Now, guests can enjoy that same combination, along with crispy bacon strips and melty cheddar cheese on a flaky toasted croissant. As Scott Deviney, CEO and President of Chicken Salad Chick, explains, "Introducing the Maui Mama Melt allows us to build on that excitement, combining our already popular flavor with melted cheddar and bacon strips. It’s a completely new flavor profile that’s the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory."

Trend Themes

  1. Tropical Comfort Melts — Island-inspired ingredients paired with familiar hot sandwiches create room for fast-casual brands to turn regional flavor nostalgia into premium limited-time comfort foods.
  2. Sweet-spicy Savory Pairings — Flavor combinations that blend fruit, heat, cheese, and bacon signal growing demand for layered menu items that feel both adventurous and approachable.
  3. Signature Flavor Extensions — Existing fan-favorite recipes can become platforms for new formats, helping restaurant concepts refresh core menu equity without introducing entirely unfamiliar products.

Industry Implications

  1. Fast-casual Restaurants — Seasonal sandwiches with distinctive flavor profiles give fast-casual operators a way to generate traffic through novelty while reinforcing brand-owned menu identities.
  2. Prepared Chicken Foods — Chicken salad concepts are evolving beyond cold deli formats, with melted, toasted, and indulgent variations expanding the category into broader meal occasions.
  3. Bakery Sandwiches — Croissants used as savory sandwich carriers highlight opportunities for bakery products to move further into premium lunch and dinner applications.
