Rosemina Nazarali, Trend Hunter (INTERVIEW)

Former Editorial Intern Rosemina Nazarali shows viewers how the Matt Harding dance video, which shows him dancing with various cultures all over the world, has the ability to bring so many different groups together through dance and movement. When searching for cool and innovative trends, she uses her instincts and scours all sorts of different blogs who consistently update their sources. Just like many other former interns, she also shares the sentiment that the people and the community are what really makes working at Trend Hunter truly magical.


What is your favorite trend and why?

My favorite trend is the traveling Matt Harding dance video. In the video he goes and travels the world, and he is basically dancing with people from different cultures. He does different types of dances and shows scenes of these beautiful places. It's really cool because he's bringing people together through art, dance and movement.

How do you define cool?

I define cool by anything that gives me a reaction. Anything that makes me laugh, anything that gets me excited, anything that makes me gasp in shock. Anything that sparks a reaction in me. Whether it's crazy, gross, pretty, fashionable or whatever it may be. If it gives me a reaction and it gets me talking about it then it's probably cool.

What is your secret to uncovering the best trends?

My secret to uncovering the best trends is probably just the Internet. Finding the most obscure websites, the places that post crazy and ridiculous things, the places that post photography, pretty things and design work. Those websites that constantly update themselves. I keep tabs on those things and what people are doing on the Internet.

What is your favorite thing about working at Trend Hunter?

My favorite thing about Trend Hunter is working with the people. It was a super fun environment, I met super cool people that some of which I still look to as mentors. I met really great friends while working here and it was also a fun environment and a place you could just be yourself.

What advice would you give to the business world?

My advice to the business world would be to sometimes let yourself forget abut the money and think about the people while also focusing on the people. Money is important, but it's not everything.

What is the most remarkable way you see businesses changing?

The most remarkable way that I see business changing is that it's just become more of a social experience. We've gone past the stuffy business suits, the conference calls and the board meeting into something that's much more organic for the people. It's just more social. There's also a lot more younger people working for big businesses and corporations. You see a lot more younger people bringing their ideas to the plate and I think that the people who are running the business are starting to listen.

Trend Hunter is like a big bowl of awesome sauce.
