Comedic Comic Book Captures

Marco D'Alfonso Illustrates Outrageous Still Frames of Superhero

I’m quickly becoming a fan of Marco D’Alfonso and his comic book-inspired illustrations. Yes, he’s a gifted artist who can render impressive images that rival that of some of Marvel and DC Comics’ best work, but the real reason I’m gravitating so heavily towards his work is because of his outlandish humor that he exemplifies in each one of his pieces.

I mean, who else would illustrate Batman and Catwoman re-enacting the infamous pottery scene in Ghost? Adding to the absurdity of that image is the fact that they’re using clay from one of Batman’s fallen enemies, Clayface. It’s so darkly humorous.

Marco D’Alfonso demonstrates this ingenuity and outside-the-box thinking in almost every illustration and he honestly does a better job at making me laugh more than some professional comedians.
