Transparent Utility Boxes

Manifest Station by Mona Caron Imagines an Alternate Reality

Manifest Station is an urban utility box that looks as though it were transparent. Looks, of course, can be deceiving. In reality, Manifest Station is a painted mural that when observed at a particular angle lines up with the scene behind it. Speaking about realities, however, there are slight tweaks represented on the mural. It essentially depicts a greener existence.

Painted by Mona Caron, Manifest Station was commissioned by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. Located at the corner of Church Street and Duboce Avenue of the city. This Is Collossal points out, "As an added bonus, a mural in the background which was repainted in part on the utility box is actually an older piece by the same artist." She's sure to leave her mark somewhere else in due time.
