Phone-Entrapped Short Films

'Man In Phone' Shows How Addicted to Technology Many Have Become

'Man In Phone' is the title of a Japanese short film that was directed by Mackenzie Sheppard to show just how obsessed with technology many have become.

Trapped in an iPhone, the protagonist experiences life from within the device -- being tossed into a woman's purse and even facing near death when he sees that his battery life has almost come to an end. The film comments on how technology addiction can change a person's life for the worse, depicting how reality becomes much less meaningful when someone is immersed in a digital world all the time.

In 'Man In Phone,' the man is left completely alone, watching the lives of others unfold while he's unable to progress. The short film shows others immersed in their phones from his perspective as well, including a man on a date with a woman who asks him to shut off his mobile when they're together -- which he in completely incapable of doing. Mackenzie Sheppard was given a 'Young Director Award' during Cannes 2016 for the film.
