Community-Built Solutions

Mama Hope Doesn't Adhere to a 'One Size Fits All' Model

Based in San Francisco, Mama Hope is a social business that works in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its main initiatives include providing access to potable water, education, food and health care.

Since launching in 2007, the team has worked to benefit 76,000 people. "At Mama Hope we believe that there are enough resources in the world for every human being to live healthy, happy lives," they write on their website. "We envision a world where resources are correctly shared across the globe to provide the tools communities need to thrive."

The featured video was launched today, through the "Stop the Pity" campaign, and explores the stereotypes surrounding black African masculinity. Though perhaps not intentionally, the YouTube video is something like an anti-"Make Kony Famous" marketing movement, if you will.
