The 'Make It Circular Challenge' Tackles Climate Change

Amsterdam-based non-profit organization What Design Can Do (WDCD) and the Ikea Foundation partnered on the Make it Circular Challenge, which takes on climate change through the lens of circular design. Creative entrepreneurs are being called to submit their ideas for products, services and systems that are both user-centered and earth-friendly.

As the challenge explains, "Most economies today are based on a linear model, where value is created by producing and selling as many products as possible. The problem is, it operates on the assumption that infinite growth is possible on a finite planet. Today, we are seeing just how wrong this assumption was, as we face an accelerating climate crisis."

Winning proposals from the Make it Circular Challenge will be brought to life via an impact-driven development program.
