Food-Piercing Platters

Luscious Food Cravings by Studio Appetit Rethinks the Traditional Tray

When it comes to food presentation, the Luscious Food Cravings gets particularly creative. It made up of ceramic spikes that pierce the food in a sculptural way. Instead of laying the dishes flat in what now appears to be a very boring way, chefs can make a more dramatic display that is slightly abstract and very avant garde.

Designed by Ido Garini and Lenneke Wispewey of Studio Appetit, the Luscious Food Cravings debuted during Dutch Design Week. Design Milk writes that it "is intended to redefine how food is presented and eaten, ultimately adding visual appeal and increased value to the experience." In a way, the porcelain 'platter' is an artistic take on eating with toothpicks.
