Lethal viruses are often associated with strongly objectionable experiences, but artist Luke Jerram takes the unpleasant mutations and crafts them out of delicate glass. The collection features a number of recognizable creations that range from acute to seriously deadly and are difficult to describe.
Viruses are, of course, commonplace in our society, but being able to pinpoint what one looks like and actually experience a tangible form of one is nonexistent. As such, the collection by Jerram is strikingly interesting because of the way he crafted the viruses. Using delicate glass, the sculptures are exceedingly fragile, whereas in real life, the viruses are hard to kill and often thrive in inhospitable conditions within our own bodies.
