The Internet might be overtaken by images of cute cats and adorable dogs, but Lukasz Bozycki, a PhD candidate in the Laboratory of Biochemistry of Lipids in the Nencki Institute Department of Biochemistry, shows that other creatures deserve just as much attention. In this particular case, that means frogs.
Armed with a telephoto lens, Lukasz Bozycki visited an icy cold pond one spring evening to capture these stunning photos. He says, "I wanted to find a fresh way of portraying the amphibians at water level." Lukasz Bozycki certainly succeeded in doing just that. In the golden light of the setting sun, he shot the glistening frogs as they relaxed lazily on the smooth surfaces on the water. He was declared Natural History Museum and BBC Worldwide's Wildlife Photographers of the Year 2013 for his work.
