Record-Breaking LTE Speeds

Ooredoo Qatar, Nokia & China Mobile Broke the LTE Advanced Speed Record

Three telecom companies just broke the LTE Advanced speed record. China Mobile, Nokia Networks and Ooredoo Qatar combined ten carriers on TDD and FDD spectrums to get 200 MHz bandwidth and achieve a record speed of 4.1 Gbps.

The hybrid TDD-FDD LTE was part of a trial utilizing Nokia Single RAN, LTE-A MIMO technologies and a Flexi Multiradio base station. This allowed them to beat the previous LTE Advanced speed of 3.78 Gbps from an SK Telecom and Nokia trial last June that also aggregated ten carriers.

China Mobile Deputy GM Madam Huang Yahong explained this event is a groundbreaking milestone in their efforts to "drive the commercialization and globalization of TD-LTE and TDD-FDD converged technology" internationally.
