Socially-Conscious Wearable Challenges

This Contest is Seeking Low-Cost Wearable Tech Solutions

In an effort to encourage companies to create scalable, low-cost wearable tech to benefit those in developing countries and communities, UNICEF is launching the Wearables for Good campaign.

The international children's charity collaborated with ARM and frog design to create the competition-based initiative. The challenge asks people to "develop innovative, affordable solutions to make wearables and sensor technology a game-changer for women and children," especially those in "resource constrained environments."

Everyone from students to engineers and entrepreneurs can participate in the Wearables for Good Challenge, anywhere in the world. Applications will be accepted until August 4th and winners will be announced later this fall. The contest is also intended to encourage social impact, design and technology communities to work together to solve global problems with low-cost wearable tech.
