This Long Exposure Photography Series is Sweet and Bold

Taking a nostalgic trip down a very shadowy and dark memory lane, Matthew Pillsbury‘s long exposure photography series ‘Screen Lives’ is hauntingly beautiful.

Documenting a time during Pillsbury’s life when he came out to friends and family after falling in love with a man and leaving his wife, the ‘Screen Lives’ long exposure photography series represents the photographer's transition.

The 11 photographs of Nate, Pillsbury’s partner, changed the theme of his series completely, which were supposed to document all domestic activity related to glowing screens of every kind from televisions to computers to mobile phones. But that all changed when Pillsbury met Nate.

"I think it took the freedom of my coming out to make a picture like the one of Nate in Vegas or Cell Phone on Venice Beach. I was breaking down the very rules I had set for my own artistic project," says Pillsbury.
