The Long Clothing Mishka Collaboration Combines Gothic & Streetwear

Streetwear company Mishka teamed up with Neo-goth label Long Clothing for its 2013 Long Clothing X Mishka Collaboration. The collaboration seems slightly unfitting due to the nature of each company's consumer audiences, however, this outcome appears successful and appealing to the eye.

In response to the cooling months ahead, the general emphasis is upon outerwear: including leather varsity jackets, long sleeve shirts and headwear. Plastered on most items is Mishka's infamous 'Keep Watch' logo (a severed eyeball), with a bit of a gothic, eerie twist. Other graphics include the Long logo, alongside chains, anarchy stars, skulls and satanic emblems. Colors are restricted to black and white -- which is fitting and expected of both companies.

The collaboration is certainly one of the first to go merge gothic themes with hip-hop; the full collection is available on the Long Clothing website.
Trend Themes
1. Gothic-streetwear Fusion - Opportunity for streetwear and goth fashion companies to collaborate and create unique designs for a new market.
2. Monochrome Fashion - Trend for black and white color schemes in fashion allows for cross-branding opportunities and edgy designs.
3. Graphic Emblems - Use of graphic emblems such as skulls and anarchy stars in fashion provides an opportunity for companies to cater to a younger, edgier demographic.
Industry Implications
1. Fashion - Fashion brands can collaborate to create unique designs that appeal to a niche market of fashion-forward individuals.
2. Streetwear - Streetwear companies can expand their market by incorporating gothic themes into their designs.
3. Goth Fashion - Gothic fashion brands can collaborate with streetwear brands to create a new sub-genre of fashion and expand their reach to a younger audience.
