Consuelo McAlister and Anne Pringle are behind the Toronto-based fashion brand and social enterprise Local Buttons. The team mix up reworked clothing with tailors in Haiti in a way to create a business that is sustainable -- for people and the planet.
The clothing is created by designers in Ontario, Canada's capital and are produced in Port-au-Prince. Local Buttons partners with INDEPCO, a Haitian NGO.
"We believe in creating positive change through an awareness of the purchasing decisions we make and the consequences these decisions have both locally and globally," their about page reads. "We believe in a grassroots approach and seek to promote small business to create sustainable communities."
