Living Typography is an Alphabet of Birdhouses to Increase Sparrows' Numbers

This delightful project called Living Typography goes back to the basics of language in meeting the basic needs of declining suburban bird populations. The objects manifest as numerical and alphabetical birdhouses to playfully merge the worlds of humans and fowl.

Nishant Jethi crafted a collection of little enclosures from wood, taking the shapes of individual letters and numbers in chubby typefaces. Often the entry hole of the roost helps to define the form of that particular character. These whimsically literal shelters can be used to spell names down tree trunks or mark house numbers on the garage. They bring charm to the homes of people and give homes to families of house sparrows. Living Typography will hopefully translate to a surge in the community of our feathery friends.
