Nike recently released a limited-edition sneaker, which takes the form of a connected sneaker that offers perks exclusively for NikePlus members.

The AF1 NikeConnect QS NYC sneakers can be purchased via the Nike SNKRS app and once received, scanned to unlock unique opportunities such as 'The Choice.' This experience is said to gamify the shoe-buying experience by giving members access to footwear drops throughout the city. When the embedded NFC chip in the sneaker is scanned, users will be shown two products and will be challenged to make a choice by choosing just one model.

While these new connected shoes from Nike are not designed to track workouts or support one's physical activity through technology, they do put a premium on engaging, personalized experiences for the online community.
