Heather Benning Makes Little Girls' Dreams Come True

Dreams really do come true as Canadian artist Heather Benning shows with her impressive project: a life-sized dollhouse.

Benning adapted an abandoned house in a rural area in order to create her masterpiece. She painted walls, destroyed an entire side of the house and filled the interior with furniture to give the structure its whimsical aura. Benning's career has been spent exploring the issue of rural displacement; this life-size dollhouse appears to be her penultimate project.

On her website, Benning explains that people influence and are influenced by the places which they inhabit. She states, "the goal with my practice is to make viewers question their relationship to their surroundings and their placement within these environments."
