LG's new 4K Ultra HD TV, which is set to be unveiled at CES 2015 in January, will make use of high-tech quantum dot technology which allows for brighter and more colorful viewing.
Quantum dots are essentially semiconducting crystals that range from 2 to 10 nanometers in size. This TV features a film of quantum dots in front of the LCD backlight, allowing for improved picture color reproduction and overall brightness.
The technology will help to boost LG's In-Plane Switching displays. The color reproduction rate is so good in these displays that they represent over a 30% improvement when compared with traditional LCD and LED TVs.
The new LG 4K TV will be displayed at CES 2015 in Las Vegas from January 6-9.
