'Let Them Help Themselves' is a Skill-Sharing Ugandan Charity

SocialBusiness.org recently wrote a profile on Ethnic Supplies, which is how Let Them Help Themselves came into the picture. "Our story begins with a chance conversation between Ida Horner founder of Ethnic Supplies and Ann McCarthy, a grandmother from Shepperton Middlesex who was already working on a project in South West Uganda," the non-profit organization writes on its 'About Us' page. Horner, of course, is a Ugandan born entrepreneur who inspired the project featured here, which began with a fundraiser.

The income creation activities include crafts such as carpentry, jewelry and basket weaving. The organization also attempts to broaden its work from simply income generation to education and health services.
