The Lectric eBikes 'XP 3.0' Improves on its Best-Selling Predecessor

The 'Lectric eBikes XP 3.0' is the latest release from the award-winning e-bike brand and company behind the United States' best-selling electric bike model. The XP 3.0 is the successor to the company's previous flagship, the XP 2.0, with the latest model boasting improvements in nearly every area.

On the performance side, the XP 3.0 features a 500W motor that outputs 55Nm of torque with a peak power output of 1,000W, rather than the 500W, 35Nm motor on the XP 2.0. The bike is also more snappy and reliable, as it boasts a 20-amp controller upgraded from the 18 amps on the previous model. Lectric ensured that not only the performance was enhanced but the handling and comfort of the ride as well, as the all-new XP 3.0 is equipped with 180mm brake rotors and a suspension fork that has a 50mm travel range.

While the bike appears quite similar to the XP 2.0 at first glance, there are significant notable changes to the frame that results in the bike being ultra-comfortable to ride for users of multiple riding styles. The saddle has been redesigned to compliment a variety of seating styles with a sportier, curved design rather than the more traditional seat on the 2.0. Additionally, the hand grips are engineered for comfort and traction, with a soft, grippy rubber that feels good to ride even when riding uphill or at higher speeds. The bike also takes advantage of its 20" x 3" grippy fat tires that make countless riding conditions feel like smooth tarmac. These wheels are augmented with a slime that prevents unfortunate flat tired-related surprises.

As a commuter-first bicycle, the range-per-charge is excellent for the bike's price, even in real-world conditions. In riding the e-bike to a 10-mile-away workplace, the bike only needs to be charged every third day with the standard 45-mile battery or every fourth day with the 65-mile battery pack. The company states that this range will vary based on rider weight, payload, weather, and other conditions, though the range seems to accurately reflect its fact sheet, even with more than 200lbs on the bike, counting rider weight. The foldable frame also makes the bike easy to carry up stairs to store in a work building, meaning you do not need to worry about the bike being compromised. On top of this, Lectric offers a convenient folding lock that can be stored in a compartment that screws onto the seating tube. The lock is exceptionally thick and ensures that the bike is kept secure, requiring a key to open it. Additionally, the electric motor on the bike itself requires a separate key for enhanced security.

One highly convenient feature of the Lectric eBikes XP 3.0 is the passenger seat capabilities of the bike's rear rack. The Lectric XP 2.0 was limited to a 75 Lbs payload on the rear rack, and it was not rated for a passenger. The 3.0, however, improves this in two ways. Firstly, the maximum payload of the rear seat is now 150lbs. Secondly, the bike features a "Passenger Mode" that automatically limits the top speed to 10mph for safety and comfort reasons. When looking at the design of the XP 3.0, it is not immediately apparent that the bike comfortably supports a second rider. However, the passenger mode on the bicycle functioned exceedingly well, as the bike can still comfortably accelerate, brake, and corner with the additional load of a second lightweight rider.

When speaking about the addition of this feature, the CEO and co-founder of Lectric, Levi Conlow, stated: "Analyzing our consumer feedback, we found the lack of dual-rider capabilities to be a common challenge in various use cases. If we really believe in creating the Greatest Urban Transportation Solution Ever, we need to make it a no-brainer for commuters to select an e-bike over a vehicle, and the passenger capabilities of the XP 3.0 offers that solution." This shows a commitment to addressing user feedback and truly improving the company's products with each release rather than simply recycling the same e-bike each time. The XP 3.0 reflects this desire for innovation.

Accompanying the launch of the XP 3.0 flagship foldable commuter bike are several accessories spread across the 'Passenger Package' and the 'Food Delivery Box' bundles. The Passenger Package offers a rear rack-mounted padded seat and an added pair of mini handlebars that greatly enhances the comfort of the bike's passenger. It is important to note that this is a separate accessory from Lectric's child bike seats, which are fully compatible with the XP 3.0.

The Food Delivery Box bundle includes rear rack-mounted delivery boxes with food preservation functionalities. The boxes securely situate themselves on the rear rack and take advantage of an insolated interior that keeps food at the desired temperature during a food delivery job.

Lectric eBikes' flagship foldable e-bike, the XP 3.0, is available now starting at $999 USD on Lectric eBikes' website (linked above), which is an exceptional price tag when factoring in its powerful components and numerous commuter-focused features. Additionally, the long-range model retails for $1,199, which is a small price to pay for an extra 20 miles of range per charge. The Passenger Package and Food Delivery Box are also available for preorder starting today.
