LeapTV is a special gaming console developed specifically for younger kids. Developed by LeapFrog, this new gaming system is intended to encourage learning through play, and includes a library of over 100 educational games.
Targeted at children aged between three and eight, the LeapTV uses an extremely simple user interface and offers the option of audio instructions, for those kids who haven't quite mastered how to read yet. It uses a combination of motion-sensing cameras and motion controllers to immerse children in the games they are playing.
Many of the games, which are approved by teachers and educators, use popular characters from Spiderman, Toy Story, Monsters Inc., etc. as well as LeapFrog's ensemble of original characters.
The LeapTV system will be made available later this year for $150.
